Hey there! I’m so glad you’re here to hear my story about how I fell head over heels in love with homemaking. Buckle up—it's been quite a journey!
Growing up, I was always drawn to pretty spaces. Whether it was a charming garden in a magazine or a cozy nook in a friend’s home, I couldn’t get enough of those little touches that make a space feel special. I found joy in arranging flowers, setting a welcoming table, or just dreaming about the perfect decor.
Fast forward to my life as a US Marine. Talk about a contrast! From the disciplined rigor of military life to the ever-changing environments, I quickly learned how to make any space feel like home. I discovered that my heart thrived on creating warm, inviting spaces no matter where I was stationed. Every time I set up a new temporary home, I poured my soul into it, adding personal touches and making it a place of comfort and peace.
It was during these years that I really began to understand the value of home. In a world that felt often chaotic and unpredictable, I found a sanctuary in the simple act of making wherever I was stationed a bit more beautiful and cozy. This love only deepened as a wife and mom. Caring for my husband and children became a blend of nurturing and creating spaces where they felt safe and loved.
And then there was my faith. My relationship with God was not always a cornerstone of my life, but after years of believing but not having a close relationship with God, I had a life changing moment and it provided me with a profound sense of peace and purpose. It was through this spiritual journey that I realized homemaking was more than just a hobby or a task—it was a calling. It was my way of serving my family and my faith by creating a haven where love, laughter, and warmth could flourish.
I also have a deep love for open spaces, animals, and that cozy Danish concept known as Hygge. The idea of creating comfort and joy in everyday moments resonates with me deeply. Whether it’s through a beautiful garden, a fluffy blanket, or a simple family dinner, I find that these little things make a huge difference in making a house a home.
So here I am, embracing the role of homemaker with all my heart. I’ve come to realize that it’s not just about making a space look pretty; it’s about infusing it with love, peace, and the little joys that make life special. It’s about creating a sanctuary for my family and celebrating the everyday moments that bring us closer together.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I can’t wait to share more about how I blend beauty, faith, and family into the art of homemaking. Here’s to making every space we inhabit a place of joy and love!
With warmth and a sprinkle of Hygge,
Marti
Welcome to my home, where every room is a cozy blend of eclectic styles that reflect my love for warmth, comfort, and a touch of whimsy. Imagine walking into a space that feels like a warm hug and invites you to curl up with a good book or enjoy intimate conversations with loved ones. That’s exactly what you’ll find in my home, a delightful mix of farmhouse charm, beach cottage serenity, and rustic modern flair.
Farmhouse Charm: Picture vintage finds, distressed wood, and that unmistakable homestead warmth. My home incorporates farmhouse elements that bring a sense of history and simplicity. You’ll find plenty of classic touches like shiplap walls, wooden beams, and well-loved furniture that tell a story.
Beach Cottage Serenity: Living in San Diego County means I’m never far from the ocean’s calming influence. I’ve infused my space with the relaxed, breezy vibes of a beach cottage. Think soft, coastal colors, nautical accents, and plenty of natural light. It’s like bringing the tranquil beach atmosphere right into my living room.
Rustic Modern Flair: I adore the juxtaposition of rugged and refined. My space marries the raw charm of rustic elements with the sleek, clean lines of modern design. Industrial lighting fixtures, metal accents, and furniture with clean lines coexist beautifully with handcrafted wood pieces and cozy textiles.
The result is a home that feels deeply personal and inviting. It’s a space where every detail is carefully chosen to create a warm, lived-in atmosphere—a place where you’d want to sink into a plush sofa for heartfelt conversations or lose yourself in a good book.
Growing up on a cattle ranch has instilled in me an appreciation for genuine, down-to-earth beauty. I’ve taken that appreciation and woven it into my decor style, ensuring that every room is not just beautiful but also incredibly comfortable.
My decor Inspiration posts might be a little of each of these or something completely outside of these boxes, I have a deep love and appreciatoin for many design styles, even if they aren't the ones that I would choose to live in.
So come on in, and make yourself at home! Whether you’re here for a quick visit or a long stay, I hope you’ll find the same comfort and charm here that makes my home a true sanctuary for my husand, myself and our guests.
